Week 3 AUS Football Players of the Week: Wright, Angove and Hope honoured

(HALIFAX, N.S.) Acadia running back Dale Wright, along with defensive back Jordan Angove and kicker Brian Hope, both from the Saint Mary's Huskies, have been selected as the Week 3 AUS football players of the week for their respective performances this past weekend.

Offensive Player of the Week
Name: Dale Wright
University: Acadia University
Position: Running back
Hometown: Markham, Ont.
Year of eligibility: Third
Academic program: BBA
Height and weight: 5'6", 195lbs

Acadia Axemen running back Dale Wright is the Atlantic University Sport football offensive player of the week for the week ending Sept. 8, 2019.

A business student in his third year of eligibility from Markham, Ont., Wright had three touchdowns in Acadia's 54-19 win over the StFX X-Men Friday night in Antigonish, N.S.

He led all rushers with 161 rushing yards on 19 carries as the Axemen secured a 2-0 record to start the season. Wright has now amassed 2,113 career rushing yards—the second most in Acadia school history.

Saint Mary's Huskies defensive back Jordan Angove has been named the AUS football defensive player of the week.

The Huskies downed the Bishop's Gaiters 30-13 in their home opener Friday night in Halifax, N.S. Angove, a third-year commerce student from Prince George, B.C., had two interception returns in the win, including an 85-yard interception return for a touchdown in the final minute of the game.

He also chipped in with two solo tackles and two assisted tackles.

Year of eligibility: Fourth
Academic program: BA
Height and weight: 6'1", 200 lbs

Saint Mary's Huskies kicker Brian Hope is the AUS football special teams player of the week for the week ending Sept. 8, 2019.

A fourth-year arts student from Port Coquitlam, B.C., Hope made good on all three of his field goal attempts and was successful on three point-after attempts, for 12 total points in Saint Mary's 30-13 win over the Bishop's Gaiters in their home opener Friday night in Halifax, N.S.

He had 453 yards punting, including one downed inside the 20, and 210 yards in kickoffs.
