Tigers remain undefeated with sixth straight win

The Dalhousie Tigers remain undefeated on the season, earning their sixth straight victory as they topped the Acadia Axemen 94-75 Friday night.

The U SPORTS No. 2 ranked Tigers handed the Axemen their third consecutive loss in Friday night's matchup. Acadia and Dalhousie both made 50% of their shots in the first half, however, Dalhousie made nine of their 18 as opposed to Acadia's four for eight. Xavier Ochu led the Tigers with a game-high 21 points, adding four rebounds and three steals, while Keevan Veinot earned Player of the Game honours as he dished out 12 assists, adding eight points, three rebounds and two steals in the win. Acadia was led by Forest Mahoney who recorded a team-high 18 points, adding three rebounds, three blocks and one assist.

The StFX X-Men hosted the Memorial Sea-Hawks this weekend, with both teams walking away with a win. The X-Men earned an exciting 99-91 overtime victory Saturday night. In a back-and-forth game that saw several lead changes, the Sea-Hawks were up by 16 late in the third quarter before the X-Men mounted a fourth quarter comeback for the win. Avan Nava finished with a team-high 26 points for StFX and earned Subway player of the game honours. Teammate Azaro Roker had a double-double night with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Cole Long had a big night for the Sea-Hawks, scoring 29 points and adding six rebounds, while Jason Thompson netted 14 and led the team with six assists.

Sunday afternoon, Memorial bounced back to earn the 102-85 victory. Subway player of the game Jeff Damalie played a strong defensive game for the Sea-Hawks with 10 rebounds, while Long had another massive game for the visitors. He finished with 28 points and 13 rebounds for thw double-double. Roker also recorded a double-double for the X-Men, recording 24 points and 13 rebounds. The Sea-Hawks now sit in second place in the AUS standings with a 5-3 record. 

Saturday night, Chris Spurrell dropped 34 points as the UNB Reds routed the Saint Mary's Huskies 91-69. Spurrell's efforts earned him the Subway Player of the Game nod. Matur Maluach had 29 points in the win, adding 11 points for the double-double while Nikita Kasongo led the Huskies with 23 points in the loss, adding four rebounds, two assists and a steal.

Elijah Miller and Jamesley Jerome each recorded a double-double to lead the UPEI Panthers to an 83-70 win over the Cape Breton Capers Saturday night. Miller poured in 30 points on 11-of-21 shooting, grabbed 10 rebounds, handed out five assists and added two steals, while Jerome finished with 17 points and 11 boards. Osman Omar finished the night with a team-high 25 points for the Capers in the loss, adding a rebound, two assists and three steals.
