Ticket packages now on sale for 2020 Subway AUS Basketball Championships

Change to championship schedule announced

(HALIFAX, N.S.) – Tickets for the 2020 Subway AUS Basketball Championships, presented by Keep it Social and PepsiCo Canada, are now on sale through Ticket Atlantic. This year's championship weekend will take place Friday, Feb. 28 to Sunday March 1, 2020 at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax.

New this season will be a championship schedule in which each doubleheader features one women's game and one men's game—emulating the format of the AUS regular season.

This will include the joining together of Sunday's championship final games into one doubleheader event.

"We're looking forward to another exceptional weekend of basketball," said executive director Phil Currie. "After five years of hosting the women's and men's championships together at Scotiabank Centre, we've decided to integrate the two schedules and have our postseason look more like our regular season."

The men's championship was hosted at Scotiabank Centre for the first time the year the facility opened in 1979 and has been hosted there over 30 times in the years since. The women's championship began running concurrently with the men's in 2015 as a pilot project and was announced as a permanent yearly fixture in 2018.

On the women's side, two-time defending AUS champion Acadia Axewomen will look to defend their title. Heading into the holiday break, the Axewomen currently sit second in the AUS standings with a 6-1 record. They trail the Memorial Sea-Hawks (6-2) who were runners up in last year's conference championship.

On the men's side, the defending champion Dalhousie Tigers—who have captured four of the last five conference titles—sit in first place heading into the holiday break with an undefeated 6-0 record. The Memorial Sea-Hawks sit in second place (5-3), while the UNB Reds are currently in third (4-3).
